Cadiz. Positioned on a narrow spit of land jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, Cadiz has been the home of the Spanish navy since the 18th century. Founded 3000 years ago by the Phoenicians, Cadiz is the oldest city in Western Europe. The beautiful Gothic Cathedral of La Giralda can be found in the Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz which is renowned for its array of whitewashed house and scented Bougainvillea which seems to grow everywhere. In the new town can be found the ultra-modern “City of Arts and Sciences” which is certainly worth a visit.

Athens is one of the world’s centres of archaeological research, and home to famous historical sites such as the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, as well as the National Archaeological Museum. It also has a thriving nightlife as well as lively markets, luxurious Hammam baths, and stunning views of the city from the peak of Mount Lycabettus.

The city is lined with sandy beaches, crystal waters and is overlooked by the stunning Mount Carmel. A city of six faiths living side by side with each other and offers visitors a different face of Israel. Visit the beautiful Baha’I Gardens. At the base of the garden is the German Templar Colony, where you can see 19th century mansions, shops and restaurants all leading down to the water side.

Port Said is the gateway to the Suez Canal, allowing passage between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. The city is set right on the Mediterranean and is mainly constructed from golden-hued stone. As you sail into Port Said watch out for the twin minarets of the mosque. The buildings of the Suez Canal Authority are striking and seem to rise from the sea like a as does the Lighthouse which was built in 1869 and stands at a height of 69 meters.

For all Dubai’s futuristic appeal and abundance of western entertainments – a sleek metro that zips through the sky like something out of Blade Runner, sumptuous shopping malls, an indoor ski park, and countless bars – there is just as much fun to be had in the simple pleasures of “the Orient”: haggling for gold and frankincense in the bustling souqs, savouring the sunset from the back of a camel, inhaling from a fragrant sheesha pipe on the fairly-lit deck of an old wooden dhow.

The capital of Qatar offers an abundance of things to see and do. Visit the fascinating Museum of Islamic Arts, choose from food from all over the world at the bazaar, relax at an outdoor café, or spend some time shopping in the traditional markets or the huge indoor shopping centres. Stroll around the bay at dusk for some beautiful views of the city.

Muscat is one of the Middle East’s oldest cities and is filled with fascinating history, charm and natural beauty. Wandering through Muscat you can enjoy rare glimpses of the rich and opulent cultural heritage of the land. Tourists who come from all over the world, Muscat holds a special charm with its grand forts, parks and museums all of which help one to understand the history of Oman.

Marmagão is in the state of Goa.  Best known for its vibrant nightlife and its exotic beaches. The nearest town, Panjimm, where you can Take a walk through the charming Portuguese quarter or the heart of the city in Church Square, go shopping on 18th June Road, or take a dip in the cool waters at Miramar Beach.

Colombo is the gateway to Sri Lanka for most visitors. Take a train ride along the coast to Mount Lavinia, a beautiful and popular beach.  Tale a trip to explore the Talangama Wetland or explore the temples of the Sinhalese Kingdom or take a guided tour to an Elephant orphanage. Alternatively, if shopping is your thing take look at the Pettah Bazaar where you can buy almost anything and everything!

Phuket. offers such a wide variety of experiences – beach-bumming, culture, diving, fabulous food, that visitors are spoilt for choice. Of course, the white-sand beaches that ring the southern and western coasts are the principal draw, along with some of the finest hotels and spas in Thailand. Each beach is different, from the upmarket resorts of Surin and Ao Bang Thao, to family-oriented Rawai, or the sin city of Patong, home of hangovers and go-go girls. But there’s also the culturally rich east-coast capital Phuket Town, as well as wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in the north. With so many options remember what time your leaves!

Penang has long served as the link between Asia’ and an important outlet to the markets of Europe and the Middle East. At its heart is diverse, cosmopolitan George Town, Penang Island’s main city and an urban centre that delivers old-world Asia in spades; imagine trishaws pedaling past, watermarked Chinese shop-houses and blue joss smoke perfuming the air. The freshest aspects of modern culture are present, too, in an exceptional art scene and free-spirited carnivals, all fed by an infectious local enthusiasm for Penang’s long history and multitude of cultures.
