Day 1: Civitavecchia (Rome)

Embark your ship – Norwegian Spirit

.Civitavecchia (Rome) is often described as the Eternal City and is filled with breath taking treasurers of almost every description – The Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, and the Trevi Fountain where a tossed coin promises your return to this city of Romance. Take a walk along the famous (and expensive) Via Veneto which came to fame in the 1960’ as the centre of la dolce vita (the sweet life) attracting jet setters and stars from around the world. Tour its many historical landmarks and enjoy the food, the culture, the ambiance, and the surrounding scenery. There is no doubt you’ll learn the meaning of la dolce vita when you visit Rome.

Day 3: Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a picture-perfect medieval walled city is filled with ancient stone buildings, narrow cobbled streets and fortified ramparts rising above red-tiled rooftops. Stradun is the city’s focal point and main artery while Dubrovnik’s streets are blessedly free of traffic. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the old city remains the pride of the Republic of Croatia and houses the world’s oldest pharmacy.

Day 4: Venice

Venice with its gondolas, canals, amazing restaurants, and unforgettable romantic ambiance, Venice is definitely a city for one’s bucket list. Waterfront palazzos, palaces, and churches make drifting down the Grand Canal feel like cruising through a painting. To really experience Venice, you must go to the opera or to a classical music performance, nibble fresh pasta and pastries, and linger in the exhibit halls of an art gallery. Label lovers will drool over the high-end shopping in Piazza San Marco.

Day 6: Koper

The beautiful Venetian-era old town of Koper in Slovenia will capture your heart. The Cathedral of the Assumption is the largest in Slovenia and worth a visit, along with the amazing 15 century Praetorian Palace. Get a great view of the city from the top of the church bell tower or take a dip in the sea by the marina.

Day 7: Split

Split is a lovely historical town set against the ancient walls of Diocletian’s palace. For beautiful views of the vehicle free Old Town, walk through the fisherman’s quarter of Varos and up the narrow stone steeped streets. Split cathedral is certainly worth a visit and the Mestrovic gallery which will give you an insight into the history and architecture of this historic old town.

Day 8: Corfu

Corfu is a lush and sun-drenched island with a long and colourful history – it has been ruled by the Romans, the Venetians, the French and the English. The Town boasts fortresses bearing the insignia of the Venetian Republic, an esplanade lavishly planted by the French during the Napoleonic Wars, and an English cricket pitch.

Day 9: Katakolon, Olympia

Katakolon is the gateway to Olympus and the site of the original Olympic Stadium. Walk on the original stadium track over 2000 years old or visit one of the extensive ruins that transcend time and help you envision what once was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Temple of Zeus. Other highlights include the Olympia Archaeological Museum where you will find the Head of Hera, the superb statue of Hermes of Praxiteles, the sculpted ornaments of the Temple of Zeus, and many other priceless works from ancient times.

Day 10: Malta

Malta. is a Mediterranean island of huge historical importance, influenced by many great empires. The capital fortress city of Valletta, described as an open-air museum, is mainly Baroque in character having been built in the 16th century by the Order of St John of Jerusalem. It offers some of Europe’s finest palaces, churches, and works of art. Valletta harbour is surrounded by cream coloured buildings and twisting streets.
