YOUR ITINERARY
Day 1 – Malta – Embark your ship – P&O Oceana
Malta is a Mediterranean island of great historical importance influenced by many great empires. The capital fortress city of Valletta, described as an open-air museum, is mainly Baroque in character having been built in the 16th century by the Order of St John of Jerusalem. It offers some of Europe’s finest palaces, churches, and works of art. Valletta harbour is surrounded by cream coloured buildings, twisting streets, hillsides beyond, fishing craft and luzzo boats below.
Day 2: At Sea
Day 3: Athens
Athens is one of the world’s centres of archaeological research, and home to famous historical sites such as the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, as well as the National Archaeological Museum. It also has a thriving nightlife as well as lively markets, luxurious Hammam baths, and stunning views of the city from the peak of Mount Lycabettus.
Day 4: Heraklion
Heraklion is an ideal starting point for visitors to explore the many sights of this beautiful Greek island. Visit the Venetian Walls, or the Fountain of Morosini close to the aromatic fruit and vegetable market. The shops range from the chic boutiques, to herb shops and souvenirs stores. Alternatively, sit in a local café or taverna and watch the world go by Greek-style!
Day 5: Mykonos
The town of Mykonos is simply picture perfect. The island town is filled with whitewashed steps and colourful little houses with blue doors. Narrow marble clad streets with mazes of little shops renowned for their gold jewellery. This is an ideal port to take a leisurely stroll to view the many sights.
Day 6 Gythion
The small seaside town of Gythion is overlooked by the awe inspiring Mount Koumaros. This town overflows with charm with its pastel painted houses, wrought iron brightly painted balconies, whitewashed stair cases and tiny fishing boats floating on the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean. This town gives you an insight into an unspoiled Greece of days gone by. The castle of Mistras, the Caves of Diros with it’s incredible underground lakes and fossils are certainly worth a visit.
